This work is the first in the series that explores the phenomenon of the ‘deliberate’ metamorphosis that unfolds when we willingly step into the cave’s initiatory dimension. Rather than a static physical trap, this shadow realm functions as a metaphorical womb and a conscious, resonative container for transformation. Crossing this threshold is an invitation to face the totality of the self without distraction or judgment. Breaking the perceiver’s continuity, we change the perceived. This is not simply a process of dismantling old scaffolding, but consciously making new ones that can hold our perceived totality.

Inside this resonant space, the challenge is to confront the good, the bad, and the ugly through the raw honesty and loving awareness. Drawing on depth psychology and examining the conditioned constructs that form our social masks , the work acts as a “Mirror of Meditation”. It demands the courage to recognize that the external world we judge is often a direct reflection of our own core. By examining how these ideas about the self are formed and tested, the artwork asks us to observe our reflections with radical acceptance, acknowledging our hidden layers without pushing them away.

Recognising this space and daring to enter it is a vital feat of initiation that links our localised identities towards a universal dimension. The setting serves as both the transformative agent and the liminal space itself, holding these complex psychological and spiritual ideas so they can be experienced directly. By anchoring ourselves in the authentic, non-judgmental presence, we can transcend limiting beliefs. We emerge from the container having integrated our shadows, more ready to engage a new reality from a state of grounded, meditative awareness.
